Bacon and cheese scones

Ingredients

  • 450g raising flour
  • 150g butter, without salt, cut into small cubes.
  • a pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder
  • 8 slices of bacon - small chopped
  • a small bunch of chives
  • 100g strong cheddar cheese
  • 50g grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 100ml of milk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220 ° c | 200 ° c | Gas 7
  2. Put the bacon into a frying pan and fry until brown and crispy. Lay slices on kitchen roll to cool.
  3. Sieve the flour into a dish, add the butter and salt.
  4. Rub the butter into the flour.
  5. Add the cheeses (keep a little to sprinkle on the surface), chives and the cayenne pepper powder.
  6. Make a hole in the middle and add the beaten egg and a dash of milk. Use a knife to flip it all together and bring it together as a dough. Use more milk if needed.
  7. Sprinkle a little flour onto the table or surface and roll the mixture to about 4cm thick, cut out circles with a scone cutter. Put them on a baking tray.
  8. Brush the face with a dash of milk and sprinkle the remaining cheese on the surface.
  9. Put in the oven for about 15-20 minutes.
