Rick and Ffion worked the historic case together, and were engaged at one time. Now back working together, they investigate whether this is a domestic revenge murder or something much darker.

Anna's revelation about the past haunts Ffion, as the hunt for Ryan Moss -Abbi's ex boyfriend - escalates. Questions are raised about Ffion's sister's involvement with the main suspect and the murder case. A chase ends with the arrest of a main suspect, and there's a celebratory feel to nailing Abbi's murder on him. But is the real killer still out there?
With the main suspect behind bars, the team start building the case for trial, when an armed gunman enters the local school looking for Rick's daughter Mati. Ffion continues to doubt her sister's link to the killer, and continues to question Anna Harvey's new allegations about the past case. Rick, visibly shaken by the day's events, turns to Ffion, rekindling something familiar between them.
In the shocking wake of the school shooting, the gunman, Mel is questioned, leading the team to link him to the historic Harvey murders, and Abbi's murder in Cleddau Woods. Ffion is convinced the killer of all three nurses may still be out there, and leaving no stone unturned, she visits Paul Harvey. Rick however is focused on the present. Their conflict leads to a heated and passionate conclusion.
Ffion and Rick's relationship intensifies as the past continues to haunt the present, but Rick chooses his marriage. Ffion discovers a truth about the past that changes everything between them and forces Rick to confess to Vaughan about the past. Ffion, riddled with guilt and shame, is worried that Abbi's killer remains at large. Rick returns home expecting a romantic meal to patch things up with Helen.
Rick arrives home, and panics when Helen is nowhere to be found. The search for Helen begins, with the clock ticking. Ffion follows her gut, back to the bunkers near Cleddau woods. The real killer is caught, but there's still no sign of Helen. Worries mount for Helen's safety, and a frustrated Ffion fails to locate her. Rick follows his own intuition about Helen's whereabouts, with devastating consequences.
