Welcome to S4C! Or perhaps it's welcome back, if you've been away for a while.
Whether you're taking your first steps in learning Welsh, looking to improve your knowledge of the language, or just curious, we're delighted to have you join us on the only Welsh-language television channel in the world.
This website is to give you all the information you need to feel at home with S4C.
If there's something else you think would be useful here, let us know!
To many people taking their first steps in Welsh it comes as quite a surprise to learn that we have a distinctive and vibrant Welsh-speaking culture, much of which might be entirely new to you. We hope S4C can be your door into this world, and we'll try hard to guide you as you begin your journey.
From Duolingo to Memrise and beyond, there are all sorts of excellent apps and sites available on the internet to help you learn Welsh. We at S4C are here for you on every step of your journey, and our programmes will help you to come to recognise and enjoy all the different sounds, accents and dialects of our beautiful language. We don't have a specific Welsh course – we prefer to leave that to the experts – but we will do all we can to provide content that supports your learning.
If coming here is your first step, you might want to check out our fantastic partner organisations, who have courses and tools to help you learn, wherever you are in the world.
For online courses and more resources to help you learn, head to Learn Welsh.
SaySomethinginWelsh could help you as you learn, head to their website to find out more.
To start with, we have a television channel that broadcasts 18 hours a day, every day. With a wide range of content there is truly something for everyone.
All of these programmes are then available to watch on demand on S4C Clic and/or BBC iPlayer.
We've got information on our website here to help you get to know our content and decide where you want to start watching.
Next, we've got special content for you on our social media. Here you'll find short videos to support your learning – perfect for watching while you're making a cuppa or waiting for the bus! Follow us on YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok to get new content all the time.
