It's important to note that all S4C's content is for you – everything you watch will help you on your learning journey. So go ahead and watch anything that you're interested in, using the information on this website to support you.
Having said that, some or our content is created with learners in mind. That could mean:
As well as our programmes for and about people learning Welsh (such as Iaith ar Daith) this page contains programmes intended for a general audience but where we think the language is particularly clear and understandable, and/or has strong links to the pictures on the screen to help you understand it.
Unless you've been tasked with watching a particular programme for a class assignment, our best advice to you is to watch the type of programme you usually enjoy. We try hard to make sure that S4C really does have something for everyone, so find what works for you. Here are some starting points:
All of these brands also have a strong presence on social media, so you can find them on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok…
This is the place to come to find programmes that are suited to your interests (such as cooking or gardening), competition shows (such as Am Dro!), feelgood factual programmes (such as Priodas Pum Mil or Gwesty Aduniad) and chat shows (such as Sgwrs Dan y Lloer or the rugby-themed Jonathan).
If you fancy something a little more serious, here you can find fascinating documentaries that bring you stories with an insight into Wales and its people. For example, there are fly-on-the-wall series that follow people in interesting jobs, like Y Llinell Las and Ar Brawf; series such as Cynefin help us to learn a little more about what make different areas of Wales so special.
As well as our popular and long-running soap operas Pobol y Cwm (set in south Wales) and Rownd a Rownd (set in north Wales), we regularly produce high-quality drama series, such as Y Gwyll/Hinterland, Bariau or Y Golau/Light in the Hall. Sometimes there are two versions made of a series – a Welsh one and an English one – and the Welsh one will always appear on S4C first, so you'll be ahead of the game.
