Are you looking for something to watch on the television during the Christmas holidays? We have lots of Christmas episodes of our favourite programmes, and also some Welsh classics that have come out of the archive. Here is some more information to help you choose. Remember, all the programmes will also be available on S4C Clic from 16 December onwards if you want to watch them at a time that suits you better!
C'mon Midffîld is one of the most popular Welsh television programmes ever. There were five series of the comedy between 1988 and 1994. The stories focus on the amateur football club Bryn Coch United, and its committee Arthur Picton (John Pierce Jones), Wali Tomos (Mei Jones) and Tecwyn Parri (Bryn Fôn). Mr Picton is quick to anger, and frequently cross with Wali, who can tend to misunderstand things.
You'll get the chance to watch one of the Christmas special epsiodes (8.00pm, 18 December) as well as Midffîld y Mwfi (Midfield the Movie; 5.05pm, 16 December).
The programme Cefn Gwlad (Countryside), which looks at life in the Welsh countryside, has played a big part of S4C since it began in 1982. The programme's presenter up until 2020 was Dai Jones Llanilar, who was one of the most well-known figures in the Welsh-speaking world.
In this special episode of Cefn Gwlad (11.00pm, 26 December), Dai and his co-presenter Wil visit Austria to learn about farming there – as well as trying to learn to ski!
Do you watch Heno on S4C every weekday evening at 7 o'clock? Heno originally came to S4C in 1990, presented by Angharad Mair and Sian Thomas. Angharad and Sian still present Heno, and in this special episode they look back through the archive at clips of Heno from Christmas time in the 1990s.
Quiz question: what was the first ever programme on S4C, on the first of November 1982? The answer is… SuperTed! SuperTed Sion Corn (Father Christmas SuperTed) is available for you to watch on Clic, and there are also a number of family-friendly films there as well.
So if you've got children who speak Welsh or are learning as well, it's a chance for you to cwtch up on the sofa to watch together. Or you can watch on your own, if you want!
A Christmas story about an 11-year-old boy, Frank, who has just been adopted by Clive and Rhi – this is their first Christmas together. Frank is not looking forward to Christmas, but then he meets his cousin Mia, and a big turkey that goes by the name of Aden!
Llyfr Mawr y Plant (The Big Book for Children) was first published in 1931 – this is the first of four story books for children known and loved by generations of Welsh-speaking children. Siôn Blewyn Coch ("Siôn with the Red Fur") is one of the stories from the Big Book, told in this animated film. Two foxes, Siôn Blewyn Coch and Siân Slei Bach (Cunning Little Siân), want to steal a turkey from the famer, Eban. But the foxcub Mic is friends with Gobble Gobble the turkey.
This a fun-filled musical story about Noa and his imaginary friend Albi. The two friends have big adventures in their special world, and Noa's world changes forever.
This animated film is an adaptation of the Dylan Thomas classic A Child's Christmas in Wales. Grandpa shares his memories of Christmas when he was a child in south Wales. A perfect film to watch on Christmas Eve (9.00am, 24 December).

In the Welsh countryside there is a unique hotel, where people have the chance to get back in touch with special people from earlier in their lives. In an emotion-filled episode it will be four Welsh celebrities visiting the hotel: the actors Richard Elis and Richard Harrington, the actor and singer Rebecca Trehearn, and the athlete Non Evans.
Four Welsh celebrities will lead a walk in their home area: the football pundit John Hartson, trainee minister Glyn Wise (who appeared on Big Brother back in 2006), the singer and songwriter Mared Williams, and the presenter and singer Lisa Angharad. Who will organise the best walk, and win £1,000 for charity?
