End: Craig yr Eryr, 67 Graigwen Road, Graigwen, Pontypridd CF37 2EF
Distance: 4.4 miles
Duration: An hour and 45 minutes
Start the walk outside the Brynffynnon pub. With the pub behind you, you'll see St Gwynno's Church (A) in front of you, walk towards the church to visit the grounds.
After visiting the church, walk back towards the Brynffynon pub, and keep the pub on your left to continue on the road.
You'll continue on the road for around 2 miles, and in front of you, you'll see a view of Twyn y Glog (B), where our crew had their picnic.
Continue again on the same road towards Graigwen.
After around 1.5 miles, you'll enter Graigwen, and after passing Fron Heulog, before the next house on the right opposite Whiterock Avenue, you'll see a narrow path. Walk down this path, and you'll come out to a jaw dropping view on Eagle's Rock (C) where this walk ends.
A. St Gwynno's Church
In the middle of the cemetery is the grave of Griffith Morgan, better known as Guto Nyth Brân, the legendary runner from the area.
B. Twyn y Glog
This isolated, prominent hillock crowned by a stone wall around the perimeter of its summit, forms a convincing location for a prehistoric hillfort.
C. Eagle's Rock
Named because it looks like an Eagle from below, with views from above it across the valley.
