Richard Holt: Yr Academi Felys

Megan started baking 'properly' during the first lockdown in a bid to raise money for the RNLI in her local area (she volunteers for Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station - the only girl in the crew!).

According to Megan, who at the time was furloughed from her part-time job at a local restaurant, this was a great way of filling her days and, more importantly, 'giving something back to the community'. Within a few months she'd raised £300 and, soon after, opened her own little cake shop in Holyhead. By now she enjoys baking almost every day!

Megan loves trying new food, such as the sweet 'lefse' she tasted for the first time in Norway; 'it's like a cinnamon pancake - yum!' Before receiving the invitation to be a member of the Academy, Megan said: 'It would make my dream come true to be able to learn new skills, in particular patisserie skills from Richard Holt himself - and on a Welsh programme, as I think it's so important to keep the language alive.'

Trivia: Megan once made a cake for Craig David! Although she'd quite like to be a millionaire or retire early ('a girl can dream'), if the young baker could choose any job in the world she'd be a marine biologist.
