Publishers Random House Children’s Books have bought the world rights to S4C's new pre-school animation Hana's Helpline, made by Calon, in a deal with the series' distributors, S4C International.
The new deal includes all English rights for a range of publications, including story books, activity books, sticker books, annuals and jigsaw books.
Translation rights are also covered by the contract, with Random House Children's Books publishing co-editions abroad. S4C retains the Welsh language publishing rights for the series, which will air in Welsh under the title Holi Hana.
Hana's Helpline is a co-production between S4C, Calon, Five's Milkshake! and ZDF, with funding from the EU’s Media+ Programme and the Wales Creative IP Fund.
Anna-Lisa Jenaer of S4C International said: "This latest deal is exciting news. Random House is a proactive publisher and its outstanding sales, marketing and publicity operation will ensure that Hana’s Helpline has a real presence in the market."
Random House Children's Books, a division of the Random House Group, publishes many leading children’s authors and illustrators. Fiona Macmillan, Publisher, Random House Children's Books said: "We are delighted to be partnering with Calon and S4C on this fantastic new pre-school property. We believe it will be an excellent addition to our licensing portfolio for both here in the UK and around the world."
A toy license deal for Hana's Helpline has already been granted to Golden Bear. A range of products based on the series, which sees agony aunt duck Hana help young animals solve a range of problems with humour and sound advice, will be made. DVD distribution in the UK has also been secured as part of a separate deal with 2-Entertain Ltd.
