Golden opportunity to enjoy award-winning Con Passionate

The drama that made history by becoming the first Welsh language programme to win a prestigious Rose D’Or television award, beating EastEnders and The Bill in the process, is to be shown on S4C.

The second series of Con Passionate, which follows the trials and tribulations of a Welsh male voice choir led by sultry musical director Davina, played by opera singer, Shân Cothi, will air on S4C digidol at 10.00pm from Sunday, 27 May onwards.

The drama, written by award-winning author, Siwan Jones won the Best Soap category in the Rose D’Or awards, held in Switzerland.

Work has already begun on a third series of Con Passionate, which will air on S4C in 2008. The series is produced for S4C by Teledu Apollo, which has recently joined the Boomerang Group of Companies.

Rhian Gibson, S4C’s Director of Commissioning, said, “Following Con Passionate’s international success at the Rose D’Or awards we’re delighted to give new viewers across the UK the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic series. The series’ loyal fans will also welcome the fact that one of the Channel’s success stories is being shown again.”

Con Passionate, which also stars Mark Lewis Jones, William Thomas, Beth Robert, Ifan Huw Dafydd, Steffan Rhodri and Philip Hughes, among others, has also won Celtic Media, Bafta Cymru and two Prix Europa awards.

S4C digidol is available outside Wales on Sky and is streamed simultaneously on s4c.co.uk. Con Passionate will also be available to watch on-demand on s4c.co.uk/watch.
