A panel of senior S4C figures will be at Ysgol Botwnnog in the Llŷn Peninsula on Thursday, 21 June from 7.00pm onwards to hear what the people of the area have to say about the Channel.
John Walter Jones, Chair of the S4C Authority, the body responsible for overseeing S4C, will be joined by S4C Chief Executive, Iona Jones to answer questions.
The Pwllheli Viewers’ Evening comes at an important time in broadcasting. Digital switchover in Wales is only two years’ away and new technology is revolutionising the way people enjoy their favourite programmes.
S4C, which recently won a top European TV award, the Rose D’Or, for its drama series, Con Passionate is currently in the middle of a public consultation into launching a separate Welsh-language children’s channel.
S4C is also looking forward to an exciting summer of programming. It will be broadcasting from all Wales’ main cultural events, including Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau, the Flintshire and District National Eisteddfod and Bryn Terfel’s Faenol Festival.
John Walter Jones said: “Listening to public opinion is very important to us and meeting people face-to-face is the best way to gauge opinion and get the fullest possible picture.”
The S4C Viewers’ Evening is one of four public meetings held by the Channel each year in different parts of Wales. A full translation service will be available. Light refreshments will be provided. For further information about the event, please contact the S4C Viewers' Hotline on 0870 600 4141.
