S4C launches a new politics programme tomorrow night, Wednesday, 3 October.
The iconic Senedd building in Cardiff Bay will be the setting for the new series, CF99, broadcast live with Bethan Rhys Roberts and Vaughan Roderick presenting a lively view and debate on the week’s hot topics. The series takes its name from the Senedd building’s unique postcode.
The launch of CF99 follows the recent broadcast of documentary series Datganoli (Devolution), which showed that 83% of the Welsh electorate backs some form of self government.
As someone who has worked on television and radio, in Welsh and in English, Bethan is looking forward to working on the programme. As a journalist, Bethan’s work has taken her to Paris, Hong Kong, Sudan, China and London. Now she has a new home among the politicians
“At the moment I work on Good Morning Wales on BBC Radio Wales and I’ve missed working on television and in Welsh. When I received the call to work on the BBC Wales production of CF99 I was delighted as it’s the perfect combination for me.
“It will be great working with Vaughan Roderick too. I met him on my first day at BBC Wales back in 1992 and although we’ve worked in the same circles, we’ve never had the opportunity to co-present a programme.”
Vaughan is a familiar face and voice in the political world. He’s the presenter of Dau o’r Bae which will be back on air soon on BBC Radio Cymru and his political blog on bbc.co.uk/cymru receives up to 3,000 hits a day. There’ll be a chance to catch up on his weekly podcast on bbc.co.uk/radiocymru where he’ll be airing his views on events in the Senedd and the Houses of Parliament.
Bethan and Vaughan will be offering a fresh and contemporary view of politics in Wales and inviting guests to join them live on CF99 every Wednesday evening to discuss the week’s events.
