Mari Grug is joining the presenting team of S4C’s new-look weather bulletins, which are being launched on Thursday 1 November, the Channel’s 25th anniversary.
Mari, aged 23 and brought up on a farm near the village of Mynachlog-ddu in Pembrokeshire, is already a familiar face to S4C viewers.
She is a former presenter of S4C children’s programming Planed Plant, acted in the youth drama series Darn o Dir, and this year presented live coverage from the National Eisteddfod in Mold and from the Royal Agricultural Show in Builth Wells.
Mari will join Chris Jones and Erin Roberts in presenting up to six daily weather bulletins throughout the week.
New graphics for the bulletins have been designed specially for S4C by WeatherOne, based in Oslo, Norway. Weather Consultancy Services, Staffordshire, will supply the data and the bulletins are being produced for S4C by ITV Wales.
In the New Year, several new elements will be introduced, including forecasts via mobile phones and expansion of the on-line weather service.
“I’m very much looking forward to being part of the weather team on S4C,” said Mari Grug. “The format changes to the weather bulletins, along with the new developments early next year, mean the service will be even more effective than before.”
