S4C awarded Welsh language rights to broadcast Glamorgan cricket coverage

S4C has been awarded the Welsh language rights to broadcast live and highlights coverage of Glamorgan County Cricket Club matches and the new Welsh Village Cup from 2010 for four seasons.
The England and Wales Cricket Board made the announcement today (5 August) as part of a wide-ranging broadcasting cricket package for international and domestic cricket.
S4C will broadcast five Glamorgan matches from either the Twenty20 Cup or new English Premier League exclusively live during each of the four seasons as well as broadcasting highlights of the county’s matches.
The Channel will also have live and exclusive coverage of the new Wales-based Twenty20 competition, The Welsh Village Cup.
Giles Clarke, the ECB chairman, said: "I am delighted that S4C will be able to show Glamorgan matches with commentary in the Welsh language and welcome their support for the Welsh Village Cup, which they will also show."

In showing live and exclusive free to air coverage of five Glamorgan matches, highlights, and extensive coverage of the exciting new Welsh Village Cup competition, S4C will play a key role in the future development of cricket at all levels in Wales."
