Producer and director of Heroes takes part in Welsh media industry training

This weekend, 1 and 2 November, Hollywood producer/director David Semel is one of the big names taking part in a Scriptwriters’ Weekend workshop organised by media training body Cyfle, in collaboration with S4C.
David, whose credits include Heroes, House, Ally McBeal and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will take part in a ‘Writing in Hollywood’ Question and Answer session as part of the event, held at the University of Glamorgan’s Atrium building in Cardiff’s city centre.
A host of other top international and home-grown names will also take part in a range of sessions covering network drama and animation. Contributors include:
• Ashley Pharoah
Co-creator and writer of some of the UK’s most successful recent TV dramas, including multi award-winning Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.
• Barbara Slade
Five-times Emmy-nominated screenwriter for Rugrats, Angelina Ballerina, Rotten Ralph and Winnie the Pooh, Barbara has also written features for both Working Title and Disney.
• Joanna Quinn
Twice Oscar-nominated animator, whose most recent film, S4C’s Dreams and Desires - Family Ties, won a host of top awards, including the coveted Cartoon d’Or prize.
• Tim Wright
An interactive director and producer, Tim’s writing credits include two BAFTA award-winning interactive projects: the comedy self-help disk 'Mind Gym' and web and email drama 'Online Caroline'.
• Wyndham Price
Wyndham has acted, written and directed for over twenty years in the theatre, TV and film. He has recently completed his first feature film, Abraham’s Point.
Dewi Wyn Williams, script consultant for S4C, who is helping to organise the event, said: “We have a fantastic line-up of speakers and the workshop promises to inspire, encourage and motivate both new and established scriptwriters.”
