03 November 2008
S4C has scooped two gold awards at this year's Promax UK Conference and Awards – the UK's biggest television promotion and marketing event.
At a ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Saturday night, the channel won the Best Sport category for a campaign promoting its coverage of the 2008 Six Nations rugby tournament.
Promotional film, ‘The Platform’, produced for S4C by award-winning production house, J M Creative, and directed by Rhys Evans, beat campaigns promoting the Olympics and Euro 2008 to win the award.
S4C also won the Best Sound Design category for an on-screen campaign promoting its choral challenge series Codi Canu, which saw choirs from each of the rugby regions and from north Wales compete to revive singing on the terraces.
J M Creative were responsible for the Sound Design on the promotional film, which featured Cardiff choir CF1. The film beat campaigns promoting Casualty and Chris Moyles’ Radio 1 show to win the category.
S4C received a total of six nominations at the awards ceremony, the channel’s biggest-ever haul.
