S4C’s flagship football series Sgorio will broadcast a live football match every Saturday afternoon as part of a new-look show which will also provide a comprehensive results service from Wales and beyond, including the Barclays Premier League and the Npower Football League.
The Saturday afternoon Sgorio programme will provide a live match from the relaunched Welsh Premier League which from this season onwards will feature 12 top teams only.
But on the weekly show too, viewers will get all the latest updates and results on screen from all the leagues, from Manchester Utd and Liverpool in the English Premier League to Cardiff and Swansea in the Championship, Wrexham, Newport and Colwyn Bay in The Blue Square and the clubs in the Welsh League pyramid.
This year Sgorio also welcomes a new addition to its team, well-known sports reporter and commentator Dylan Ebenezer, who will commentate and report on the action.
He joins presenters Alun Williams and Morgan Jones, and former internationals Malcolm Allen and John Hartson.
Viewers who miss the live games will be able to watch on-demand on the S4C website – s4c.co.uk/clic. Non-Welsh speaking viewers can also choose English commentary on Sky by pressing the red button.
Every Monday, Malcolm Allen and John Hartson will present full highlights from the Welsh Premier League and the best from the Italian and Spanish leagues.
You can also follow Wales’ Euro 2012 qualifying campaign which kicks off with live coverage of the opening match against Montenegro in September.
Before that, highlights of Wales’ friendly match against Luxembourg at Llanelli’s Parc y Scarlets ground will be broadcast on Wednesday 11 August on S4C.
S4C’s Content Editor, Sport, Geraint Rowlands says, “S4C takes pride in its role as the home of live events of Welsh interest and our extensive coverage of sports in Wales on all levels reflects our dedication.
“The new season of Sgorio demonstrates S4C’s ongoing commitment to Welsh football through our partnership with the FAW. Our authoritative team of presenters and commentators will provide expert analysis and insight as Sgorio follows the fortunes of our teams on the domestic and international stage.”
Sgorio coverage is produced for S4C by independent television production company Rondo Media. A comprehensive website accompanies the television coverage: s4c.co.uk/sgorio.
