S4C has been nominated in two categories at the 2010 Promax UK Awards, the UK’s biggest television promotion and marketing event.
The Haka trailer used to promote S4C’s cricket and rugby output during the summer has received a nomination in the Best Sports Promo – Originated. The nomination comes weeks after the promo won a prestigious sports award at the Georges Bertellotti Golden Podium Awards, held during Sportel – the International Sports Convention for Television and New Media.
The on-screen campaign was used as part of S4C’s cricket campaign to promote broadcasts of Glamorgan’s home Friends Provident Twenty20 games and highlights of Wales’ rugby tour of New Zealand. During the trailer, cricket umpires took on the famous New Zealand ritual – the Haka – with recognised umpire gestures.
S4C, alongside PR company Mr Producer, has also been nominated in the Best Press / PR category for the communications campaign within local communities for Y Porthmon, broadcast in June.
Y Porthmon was a series of nightly programmes which followed presenter Ifan Jones Evans as he embarked on a historic journey to retrace the footsteps of drover Dafydd Isaac – walking over 100 miles from Machynlleth to Brecon.
Promax UK Awards will take place on Friday 12 November.
