S4C and the Daily Post have launched the 2011 Thousands of Christmas Voices Carol Competition.
Groups, individuals, composers and songwriters are invited to compete for the £1,000 prize. The winning carol will be performed at the Thousands of Christmas Voices concert in Llangollen Pavilion on 11 December.
The concert will be broadcast on S4C over Christmas and details about the performers and tickets will be released in November.
The concert is now in its 17th year, with the carol competition back for the 13th year.
Medwyn Parri, S4C’s Head of Events and Event television, said: “We are pleased to be part of the Thousands of Christmas Voices 2011 Carol Competition again this year.
“The Channel’s association with the competition stretches back over a decade and we look forward to receiving as many high-quality entries as in previous years.”
The closing date for the competition is Friday 11 November. To enter and for the rules in full, you can call 01492 574 472 or email events@dailypost.co.uk. The rules can also be read in full on the S4C website.

The carol, which may be no longer than four minutes, may have lyrics in Welsh or English. The words and music must be original and they must not have been previously performed, published or recorded before December 11, 2011.
There must be no reason why S4C or any other third party cannot perform or broadcast the carol on television/radio or any other media, make recording of the carol, synchronise the carol with any film, pictures or promote or exploit the carol by any means.
Last year’s winner was E Olwen Jones from Talwrn on Anglesey who composed a beautiful traditional carol themed song called Dim Ond Un (There’s Only One).
