Stars of Sion a Siân and Cwmderi come to the Swansea Valley

16 April 2012

Some of S4C’s most prominent stars will be visiting the Swansea Valley area.

On Monday 23 April Stifyn Parri and Heledd Cynwal will be hosting a Sion a Siân (Mr and Mrs) evening at Glanamman Rugby Club, and on Tuesday 24 April there will be a chance for the people of the Swansea Valley to compete in a quiz with some of the stars of Pobol y Cwm in a special evening at Ynystawe Cricket Club.

The new series of Sion a Siân started with its contemporary look on S4C over Easter and Stifyn Parri and Heledd Cynwal have been travelling to different areas in Wales to give the public a taste of the new game show.

There’ll be a chance for two couples from the Swansea Valley to compete against each other to win a cash prize on Monday 23 April at 7:30pm.

Stifyn Parri says, “I’m really looking forward for the chance to go and meet the community of the Swansea Valley. Heledd and I have had great fun filming the series and it has been fantastic to meet a number of different couples across the country.”

There’ll be a chance on Tuesday 24 April at 7:30pm to meet the actors behind some of the most well known characters of Pobol y Cwm in a special quiz with Emyr Wyn (who plays Dai Sgaffalde) keeping order as quizmaster. This is a chance for the people of the Swansea Valley to discover just how much general knowledge the cast have about life outside Cwmderi.

Ynyr Williams, the Producer of Pobol y Cwm says, “The loyal audience of Pobol y Cwm is very important to us. Meeting them at an evening full of fun is a chance to further develop the relationship.”

S4C’s visit to the Swansea Valley also includes a schools tour with the presenters of the programme Tag, Geraint Hardy and Elin Llwyd between 16 April and 4 May. The tour will offer a taste of the magazine programme that’s broadcasted on S4C every Friday at 5:30pm.

Eurig Salisbury, Welsh Children’s Poet Laureate will also visit the schools to see what budding poets the Swansea Valley has to offer.

Among other events, there’s a Byw yn yr Ardd evening with Russell Jones, and the ambassador of S4C in the community, Chris Jones, at Treforys Golf Club on 19 April.

In an S4C Viewers Evening, on Thursday26 April, there’s a chance for the people of the Swansea Valley to voice their opinion on the channel’s programmes and services and to meet Ian Jones, the Chief Executive of S4C, Huw Jones, Chairman of the S4C Authority and Dafydd Rhys, the Director of Content of S4C.

The S4C Viewers Evening is held at Pontardawe Arts Centre. Heledd Cynwal will lead the evening with entertainment from the Ospreys Supporters Choir.
