The production team responsible for S4C's popular farming and rural life programme Ffermio has been awarded the Farmers' Union of Wales annual external award for services to the agricultural industry in Wales.
The team was awarded the honour during the union's general meeting in Aberystwyth on Friday 22 June.
Ffermio is produced by Swansea based production company Telesgop. As well as a weekly magazine programme, Ffermio also has a comprehensive website –
www.ffermio.tv - which shares further information with the viewers and provides a forum for farmers and the agriculture industry.
FUW president Emyr Jones says about the Ffermio team, "The majority of the workforce come from an agricultural background and live amongst the audience in the countryside. S4C has to be congratulated for providing a service such as Ffermio and for its acknowledgement of the industry's importance to Wales."
The weekly programme is currently presented by Daloni Metcalfe, Alun Elidyr and Meinir Jones and contains features on all aspects of agriculture and rural life.
In the next edition, on Monday 2 July at 8.25pm, Alun will be at a shearing competition at Llysfasi College, Daloni will meet Carwyn Rees, our ‘student of the month’, and Meinir visits the artist Miranda Bowen.
Elin Rhys Managing Director at Telesgop says, "Over the years, we have developed a precious relationship with farmers, food producers, unions, and rural organisations and the Ffermio team has immense respect for the agricultural community. That respect ensures the team always give their best back to the audience.
"The whole team are very grateful to FUW for this credit to Ffermio, and Telesgop, and we are proud that we can contribute to an industry that is so crucial to our economy, language and culture."
