Cyw characters steal the show at the Literary Pavilion
01 August 2012
The Literary Pavilion at the 2012 Vale of Glamorgan National Eisteddfod is preparing to host an event like no other.
At 5.00pm on Sunday, 5 August, a full capacity crowd is expected at the pavilion, famous as a place to discuss Welsh language poetry and literature, as some of the nation's most familiar faces are welcomed to the stage.
The name of the event is Eisteddfod Cyw and competing will be Sali Mali, Jac y Jwc, Oli Old, Tigi, Huwi Stomp and, of course, rapper Dona Direidi.
Come support your favourite characters, old and new, as they perform in an Eisteddfod with a difference!
"Eisteddfod Cyw is an open competition and the characters can choose what to perform. We look forward to witnessing world-class performances – whether it's singing, dancing, reciting or an instrumental performance - and I ask the audience to show fairness for each competitor," says Einir Dafydd, Cyw presenter who will be joined at the event by co-presenter Trystan Morris.
Presiding on the stage will be Cyw presenters Rachael Solomon and Gareth Delve and several more characters from your favourite shows will show their support.
Jac y Jwc, of Pentre Bach, says, "I'm looking forward to winning the Eisteddfod. I've never won anything before."
But Dona Direidi, of Dre Be Nei Di, is confident that her excellent rapping will steal the show, "It's me, Dona Direidi, who's going to win the day. I'm so good at rapping, you'll all be clapping!"
Eisteddfod Cyw is a free event and you do not need a ticket.
