Two new music programmes among latest S4C commissions

S4C has announced that music programmes are among the Channel's latest commissions.
S4C's Director of Content, Dafydd Rhys, revealed in an interview on the current affairs programme Hacio (Tuesday 7 August) that two new music programme will hit the screens soon, strengthening the Channel's commitment to supporting talent in Wales.
The first programme Y Lle: Ochr 1, a commission for Caernarfon based company Antena, will focus on new and popular artists on the Welsh music scene, giving young and up-and-coming bands a stage to perform.
The second series, a commission for Tinopolis in Llanelli, will be part of Pen8nos, S4C's Friday night entertainment schedule. This programme will have a more relaxed feel featuring more established bands including old as well as more recent favourites.
Dafydd Rhys says, "S4C has a strong tradition of supporting the music scene in Wales and has exploited talented musicians who have gone on to become skilful writers, directors and producers in the television industry.
"The Gig50 concerts, which were shown on S4C recently, show the depth of talent there is in Wales and although we're keen to broadcast similar events in the future we feel that through commissioning series' we can provide a better support in the long term."
Gaynor Davies, S4C Content Commissioner, says, "The intention is to cover all genres of popular music, with two very different programmes which will offer something that appeals to everyone."
The programmes are due to be on screen in the New Year.
