S4C programmes have received a total of 37 nominations for the 2012 BAFTA Cymru awards, with 19 for the Channel's drama productions.
The drama series Gwaith/Cartref, leads the way in this year's BAFTA Cymru nominations, with six in total. As well as a nomination for Best Television Drama for the Fiction Factory production, the actress Rhian Morgan, who plays teacher Gwen Lloyd, has been nominated for Best Actress.
The series also receives nominations for Production Design (William F. Bryce), Editing: Fiction (Mike Hopkins/Rhys ap Rhobert), Make-up and Hair (Gwenno Penrhyn) and Costume Design (Sian Jenkins).
Siwan Jones, author of drama Alys, has been nominated in the Best Author category for the series which is produced by Teledu Apollo and returns to S4C in November. This is one of five nominations for the production which also includes Director: Fiction (Gareth Bryn), Original Music (Strange Village), Production Design (Gerwyn Lloyd) and Photography and Lighting (Richard Wyn Hughes).
The feature film Patagonia, starring Matthew Rhys, Nia Roberts and Matthew Gravelle, has also been nominated for five awards. The director Marc Evans is nominated for best Director: Fiction and the film, which was broadcast on S4C on New Year's Day 2012, is also nominated in the Feature/Television Film category (Rebekah Gilbertson/Flora Fernandez-Marengo).
There are also nominations for Editing: Fiction (Mali Evans), Sound (Simon Fraser) and Make-up and Hair (Jo Evans).
The drama Burton: Y Gyfrinach?, by Green Bay, was also one of the highlights of S4C's Christmas and New Year schedule, and Richard Harrington has been nominated in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of world-famous actor, Richard Burton.
The production has also been nominated in the Feature/Television Film category (Dylan Richards/Judith Roberts/John Geraint) and two other nominations for Costume Design (Dawn Thomas-Mondo) and Photography and Lighting (Huw Talfryn Walters).
Another series which has received a number of nominations is Ras yn Erbyn Amser, by P.O.P.1. The series followed the adventurous presenter Lowri Morgan as she trained and competed in the extreme Arctic Ultra 6633 race. She was the only person to cross the finish line, and is one of only six ever to complete the feat.
Lowri has herself received a nomination for best Presenter along with the nomination for best Factual Series (Lowri Morgan/Dafydd Rhys). There are two other nominations in the categories Photography Factual (Joe Davies) and Editing: Factual (Trystan Jones).
Another notable programme which has been nominated is the touching tribute following the tragic death of Gary Speed. Gary Speed: Teyrnged, was produced by Rondo, the team responsible for the football series Sgorio who had come to know the former football star and Wales manager well through their work. Presenters John Hartson and Malcolm Allen were also close friends of Gary's and played alongside him wearing the Wales jersey. The programme is nominated in the Sports Programme category (Lowri Pugh-Jones/Dafydd Thomas/Emyr Davies).
Fishing series 'Sgota gyda Julian Lewis Jones, Telesgop, has been nominated in the Sports category (Euros Jones Evans).
Documentaries are also among the list. They include Cegin Cofi, by Cwmni Da, in the Director: Factual category (Beca Brown), Joe a Ruby, Chwarel, for the best Single Documentary (Sioned Morys), and Llwybr yr Arfordir, Telesdu Apollo, in the Photography Factual category (Garry Wakeman).
The special programme Wyneb Glyndwr, by Wild Dream, attempted to re-create the face of Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr using historic evidence and the latest technology. The programme is nominated for the Gwyn Alf Williams Award (Sion Hughes/Stuart Clarke) which is presented to a programme or series contributing to the understanding and appreciation of history in Wales.
In the field of current affairs, two BBC Cymru Wales programmes produced for S4C are nominated. The first is Dewi Llwyd's special report from New York to mark ten years since 9/11. Newyddion 9/11 is nominated in the News Coverage category (Rhian Jardine).
Also the Taro 9 investigation into the double-murder of Pembrokeshire siblings during the 70s is nominated in the Current Affairs category (Ioan Wyn Evans/Geraint Lewis Jones).
Trefor the taxi driver's trials and tribulations are also on the list, with comedy Gwlad yr Astra Gwyn, by Rondo, nominated for the Breakthrough Award, and another popular comedy Dim Byd, Cwmni Da, is nominated in the Children's Programme category (Barry Jones).
Music series Bandit, Boomerang, presented by Huw Evans and Huw Stephens, is nominated for best Music and Entertainment programme (Gruffydd Davies).
And finally there are two nominations in the Graphic Design category. The first for children's programme Newid Byd (RoughCollie) produced by Telesgop, and also S4C's Rugby World Cup promotional campaign (RoughCollie / S4C's Promo Department).
Congratulations also to one of the celebrities who took part in the 2012 series of cariad@iaith:love4language. Actor Robert Pugh, who stars in popular series Game of Thrones will receive the Siân Phillips Awards given to a Welshman or woman who has made a significant contribution in either a major feature film or network television programme.

"The Channel's popular dramas are very prominent among the list this year with recognition not only to the work of actors, writers and directors but to further talents behind the scenes who contributed so much to the success of the production.
"The number of nominations is recognition of the talent and hard work by the independent sector to produce programmes for S4C."
The 2012 BAFTA awards ceremony will be held at the Wales Millennium Centre on 30 September.
