S4C will light up the Christmas schedule this year with new innovative idents which will be shown while introducing programmes.
The videos which appear on S4C from today (3rd December) onwards are unique productions by Caerphilly based light artist, Michael Bosanko and S4C’s promos department. They show a variety of images created using lights and a special photographic technique.
Michael creates his striking productions by waving bright lights before the camera, and taking ‘Long Exposure’ pictures. Then he edits individual frames together to create an animation. It’s all done without changing the pictures which are taken in any way.
S4C’s Head of Broadcasting, Geraint Rowlands said:
“These images will certainly be eye-catching for viewers over the Christmas period. We are always on the look out for original and striking ideas for this colourful time of year – and this work is an excellent example of that.
“These striking images create a new feel and they are a special way of combining the traditional and the modern within a few short seconds. That says it all about S4C’s schedule over Christmas.”
S4C’s Director of Content, Dafydd Rhys said:
“As well as these special images, there will be plenty of great programmes on S4C over the coming weeks.
“We have Christmassy films such as Dona Direidi – Be’ Wnei di? for children, and Cyfrinach Teulu Tŷ Crwn for the whole family. Also we’ll follow musician Gruff Rhys on his own personal journey to Patagonia in the film Seperado. We have a heart wrenching documentary about the life and legacy of Gary Speed, with interviews by close friends and family members. But we also have plenty of festive cheer – and Dewi Pws’ unique programme on Christmas night (Noson yng Nghwmni Dewi Pws) is an excellent example of that. There’ll be so much more, and something for everybody on S4C over Christmas.”
