Two nominations for S4C in the Royal Television Society Awards 2013

01 March 2013

Two of S4C's programmes have been nominated in the prestigious Royal Television Society Programme Awards 2013.

Fy Chwaer a Fi is a special documentary which follows Catherine and Kirstie Field, eighteen year old twins from Bryn near Llanelli who suffer from a unique neurological disease which has left them paralysed and robbed of their speech.

A co-production with BBC Wales from Bulb Films as part of Boom Pictures Cymru, the programme was broadcast as part of S4C's documentary series, O'r Galon.

Fy Chwaer a Fi is nominated in the Single Documentary category, and earlier this month it was announced that Fy Chwaer a Fi has also been Short Listed in the New York Festivals Awards in the human interest category. The hour-long film was made as part of a co-production project with BBC Cymru Wales.

The second programme nominated is Teulu Tŷ Crwn. The musical film which was co-produced by Apollo and Fflic and part of Boom Pictures Cymru for S4C has been nominated in the Children's Drama Category.

The family film which follows three children as they try to cope without their parents was broadcast on S4C on Christmas Day 2012.

Dafydd Rhys, Director of Content for S4C said:

"It's great to see S4C programmes being recognised by such prestigious Awards as the Royal Television Society. The two nominations reflect the variety of the Channel, from light entertainment for children, to poignant documentaries which reflect everyday life in Wales. The nominations show that Welsh programmes are amongst the best out there, in any language, and on any channel. Warmest congratulations to everyone who's worked on the programmes."

The winners will be announced in an awards ceremony in March.

Also, ten of S4C's services or programmes have also been included on the short list for this year's Bronze Torc Awards, which will be presented at the Celtic Media Festival in Swansea in April.
