S4C in discussions to secure full resolution transmission
12 March 2013
S4C is in discussions with its multiplex provider in order to secure full resolution transmission.
Currently the channel is allocated three quarter resolution which can result in less clarity of picture, particularly for some sporting events.
In accordance with Ofcom’s published requirements, full resolution should be allocated to public service broadcasters such as S4C.
S4C’s Chief Technical Officer, Steve Cowin said:
“We’re in regular contact with our multiplex providers regarding this issue.
“Full resolution enables enhanced picture clarity for the viewer and it is already available to other public service broadcasters. We hope to secure this for S4C viewers as soon as possible.”
