Cyw crew in the flesh – children’s favourite to appear at all this summer’s National events
Children’s shows saved for summer 2013
The presenters and characters from S4C’s Cyw service will appear at all Wales’ major national events this summer.
The Urdd National Eisteddfod in Pembrokeshire, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Llanelwedd and the National Eisteddfod in Denbighshire – it’ll be a summer to remember for children from all over Wales.
At all the events, Cyw will perform live with the presenters of the service and some of the popular characters from the Cyw programmes like Dona Direidi, Ben Dant and Dwylo’r Enfys, in daily performances and song and dance sessions.
In addition, the Cyw crew will appear in the Tafwyl festival in Cardiff, the Urdd Eisteddfod Proclamation Ceremony in Carmarthenshire and in the London Welsh Hwyl a Halibalŵ event.
For older children, there’ll also be crazy games with Anni, Lois, Tudur and Owain – Stwnsh presenters at the Urdd Eisteddfod, the Royal Welsh Show and the National Eisteddfod.
Sioned Wyn Roberts, S4C Children’s Content Commissioner said:
“Children are in their element watching Cyw; Cyw’s shows in the eisteddfodau are packed out every year! It’s important for us, therefore, that Cyw appears at all the National events so that as many children as possible can enjoy the shows and can play, laugh and learn with Cyw.”
Garffild Lloyd Lewis, S4C Director of Communications, Marketing and Partnerships, said:
“Cyw is a comprehensive service offering fun programmes that also educate the next generation and help non-Welsh-speaking parents learn the language with their children on the @tifiacyw service. But it’s important to remember that the live performances are also a big part of the Cyw service and we’re trying to keep them going despite the financial constraints upon us.
“The children get so excited seeing Rapsgaliwn, Dona Direidi and the presenters – they’re heroes in their eyes. So we’re keen to ensure the Cyw crew travel the length and breadth of Wales and appear at all the National summer events.”
