S4C's Digital Manager has predicted a prosperous future for the Welsh language on digital platforms following S4C's Creadigidol conference held yesterday (Thursday 9 May) in Caernarfon and Cardiff.
120 people registered to attend the conference – which was held in Galeri Caernarfon and the Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay – and it was all streamed live on the website s4c.co.uk/creadigidol
The intention was to hold an open day for the creative sector which outlined the developments in producing and delivering digital content. And the discussion reached out beyond the event as the attendees and viewers of the online stream shared their views on Twitter using the tag #creadigidol
Huw Marshall, S4C Digital Manager, said, "We had a successful day in Cardiff Bay and Caernarfon with lively and constructive discussions on different elements of the digital industry.
"Creadigidol was an opportunity to share ideas on how to further develop resources and make the most of the opportunities available to ensure a place for the Welsh language on the web and numerous digital platforms. We certainly achieved that, and I'm confident that the event has inspired several ideas which have huge potential for further development. It all points to a prosperous future for the Welsh language on digital platforms."
As well as Huw Marshall, speaking at the conference were Elin Morris, S4C Director of Corporate and Commercial Policy, Anton Faulconbridge from Rant Media, Phil Stead, Senior Designer at Cwmni Da and Richard Lewis, Strategic Partner Manager at YouTube.
Also, Simon Pridham Headmaster of Ysgol Gynradd Casllwchwr and manager of Swansea's LIFE Programme, Rhodri ap Dyfrig PHD Student Participatory Media and Minority Languages, Anwen Aspden, Executive Producer Interactive and Learning BBC Cymru Wales, Emma Messe, Cardiff University and Hannah Thomas, Producer.
