It was a very successful night for S4C at the annual BAFTA Cymru Awards Ceremony.

The channel’s content won 11 awards out of the 29 available.

The Drama series Alys won two awards – with Sara Lloyd Gregory winning the best actress award for playing the main role and Richard Wyn winning the Photography & Lighting award.

There was recognition for S4C’s children’s programmes with Dwylo’r Enfys (Ceidiog) winning in the Children’s Programme category (including animation) and the Visual and Graphic Effects award going to Bla Bla Blewog (Adastra).

The award for the best Music & Entertainment programme went to Côr Cymru: Corau Plant (Rondo) while the short film Cân i Emrys (Double Agent) won the Short Form & Animation award.

The winner in the Current Affairs category was S4C's Y Byd ar Bedwar (ITV Cymru) for their programme on drug deaths on Anglesey.

S4C programmes from the Royal Welsh Show (Boom Pictures Cymru) won the award for best Sport Programme and Live Outside Broadcast while the Breakthrough Award went to Gwion Lewis for presenting the programme Cymdeithas yr Iaith yn 50 (Rondo).

There was recognition for two of S4C’s factual programmes as Gerallt (Cwmni Da) received the Single Documentary award and Mei Williams won the best Factual Director BAFTA for his documentary, Fy Chwaer a Fi (Boom Pictures Cymru).

In addition to the 11 awards received by S4C programmes, one of the channel’s most familiar faces received a special BAFTA award for Outstanding Contribution to Television. Dewi Llwyd was honoured by BAFTA Cymru for his long and distinguished career within Welsh-language journalism, which continues today as he presents Pawb a’i Farn (BBC Cymru) on S4C.
