S4C to broadcast live games from the Under 20s Six Nations Championship
S4C has once more shown its commitment to Welsh rugby on all levels – this time by providing live coverage of two of Wales’ Under 20s matches in the 2014 Six Nations Championship.
The Channel’s plans were confirmed today (DATE) as the WRU unveiled its schedule details for the home matches being held at Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay.
S4C will broadcast Wales v France on Saturday 22 February (kick off 6.05pm) and their final game of the Championship, Wales v Scotland on Friday 14 March (kick off 7.00pm).
Wales Under 20s had their most successful season ever last year, reaching the final of the Junior World Championship following their impressive performances in the Six Nations.
Parc Eirias is renowned for its great atmosphere and S4C has broadcast a number of memorable games from the ground in the past.
S4C's Director of Content, Dafydd Rhys said: "It's a pleasure to be able to say that we will be showing the Wales Under 20s’ big games again in the Under 20s Six Nations Championship 2014 on S4C. The team has shown consistently that the standard of play at this level is particularly high and it's clear that rugby supporters across Wales really enjoy the games. Showing this Championship is part of S4C's efforts to support junior rugby, alongside our Rygbi'r Colegau programmes.
"We'll be one hundred percent behind the under 20s team again this year - and let’s hope that we'll see them raising the championship trophy live on S4C."
