The two-brother band from Llanrug, Brigyn have release a brand new song to coincide with a new programme on S4C.
Ynyr and Eurig Roberts's new song 'Gwyn Dy Fyd', which translates as Light of My Life, can be heard on S4C's programme O'r Galon: Byd Enlli a Gwenno on Sunday 22 December at 8.30pm, and will be released roday (Monday 16 December) before the broadcast.
O'r Galon: Byd Enlli a Gwenno tells the story of a young mum and her daughter. Enlli Jones from Blaenau Ffestiniog had her daughter when she was fifteen years old and still at school.
But a few weeks after Enlli's daughter, Gwenno was born, the family were told that Gwenno was deaf.
O'r Galon: Byd Enlli a Gwenno joins the family after Gwenno received cochlear implants to help her hear and to see how mother and daughter are coping today.
Ynyr and Eurig started the musical project Brigyn nearly ten years ago, and their music has since been played on radio and television in Wales and across Britain.
"Earlier this year I accepted a challenge set by Goriad (the company who produced the programme for S4C) to compose a song which would be a soundtrack to the programme." Explains Ynyr, the eldest of the two brothers.
"I was composing during the filming, so I was trying to write lyrics and music which would relate to Enlli and Gwenno's relationships. I'm a parent myself so I tried to convey that fantastic feeling of care, friendship and love between parent and child."
Since 2004 Brigyn have released three Welsh albums, three Welsh singles and two English singles, but 'Gwyn Dy Fyd' is their first release this year.
"It's wonderful to be able to release the new song," says Ynyr, who works as a freelance graphic designer. "It's inspired me to put all the songs that we've had floating around for a while on one CD – which will be released in the New Year."
Brigyn will be gigging in Mynydd y Garreg on 24 January, in Llanuwchllyn in February in the Wales Millennium Centre on Saint David's Day.
