Ysbyty Hospital, S4C's new comedy drama for children, starring Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens, will be broadcast on the Channel on Thursday 9 January at 6.05pm – and fans of the new show won’t have to wait long for the second instalment.

In a new development for S4C, the second episode will be available to watch online straight after the first episode airs.

Each new episode of the series will be available online on Clic, the Channel's on-demand service, and on S4C's children's website Stwnsh immediately after each linear broadcast of Ysbyty Hospital on S4C.

The series, produced by Boom Pictures Cymru is set in a hospital where Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens is captured by the crazy staff and forced to be the in-house DJ.

Content Commissioner for S4C Sioned Wyn Roberts believes that making episodes available online first will add to the appeal for the Channel’s younger audience.

Sioned Wyn Roberts says: "Children love comedy series and they also look for comedy content online. By broadcasting the latest episodes of Ysbyty Hospital exclusively online, children can enjoy the content and share it with their friends before it's been on TV. It's a new way for us to reach out to S4C's younger audience, and we hope that they enjoy the series and shout about it!"

Also starring on Ysbyty Hospital are Stwnsh presenters, Owain Gwynedd, Tudur Phillips, Lois Cernyw and Anni Llŷn, and actors Iwan John and Emma Walford.

"Ysbyty Hospital is sure to get children laughing," says Angharad Garlick, Executive Producer at Boom Pictures Cymru. "When a new boss arrives at Ysbyty Hospital, the place is turned upside down. Who is she and what is her secret? Why is Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens in the hospital? One thing’s for sure, DJ SAL and Radio Therapi FM will never be the same again!"

Last month S4C also announced that adverts would no longer be shown during children’s programmes on Cyw - S4C’s dedicated service for younger children and Stwnsh programming for older children. This new broadcasting timetable will commence on S4C on Monday 24 February.
