16 July 2014
Today (Wednesday 16 July) the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport of the UK Government (DCMS), Sajid Javid MP, was welcomed on a visit to S4C’s Headquarters in Llanishen, Cardiff.
During the visit, Sajid Javid MP met with S4C's Chief Executive, Ian Jones and S4C's Chairman, Huw Jones.
The Secretary of State was given a snapshot of the work which takes place at the Channel’s headquarters, and was shown some of the S4C schedule's recent highlights.
Huw Jones, S4C Chairman says, "It was a pleasure to welcome the Secretary of State to S4C's headquarters in Llanishen today.
"On his first visit since his appointment, this was an opportunity to offer him a first-hand experience of Welsh language broadcasting, as well as to discuss our aspirations and priorities as we plan for the channel's future.
"It is vital that we maintain a close relationship with the Secretary of State and his department within the UK Government, to ensure he and his officials are aware of the work which takes place here and across the creative industries in Wales, and to emphasise their importance to Welsh culture and the economy. We received warm words of support from him for the importance of this work.
"We look forward to continuing to work together to ensure a prosperous future for S4C."
