Nominations for Ludus in Broadcast awards

29 May 2014

 One of S4C’s innovative programmes for older children and young people, Ludus, has been nominated for three awards in Broadcast magazine’s digital awards.

Broadcast magazine recognises digital innovation and content creativity in broadcasting – and the nomination is a recognition of technology resource one of the children and young people’s service. The awards will be held on 25 June.

Ludus was nominated in three categories, the Best Digital Children's Content, Best Game and Best Multiplatform Project.

Ludus was produced by Cube, which specialises in producing digital productions in Wales, in partnership with Cardiff based production company, Boom Kids.

The programme is in the format of an interactive game for children, and they get the opportunity to participate in the studio or compete for prizes by playing along live using a second-screen.

Ludus was first broadcast by CBBC, and is shown on S4C every Monday at 5:20, and also on CBBC on the BBC network.

The second-screen format was developed from a programme that Cube produced for S4C, Y Lifft. Y Lifft was the first programme to show a second screen interactive game produced for children in the UK, shown on S4C in 2012.

Wil Stephens, Cube interactive’s Chief Executive, is very proud of Broadcast magazine’s recognition of Cube’s work, and is also thankful to S4C for their part in developing Ludus;

“We are very proud of our nomination in Broadcast magazine’s awards. Ludus was an ambitious project, and it’s raised the bar for productions that we’ll produce in future. The nomination clearly states S4C’s commitment and success to digital development, especially in establishing a new audience.”
