Kliph Scurlock to perform at the S4C Pavilion in the National Eisteddfod
04 August 2014
Today S4C can announce that Kliph Scurlock, former drummer to psychedelic rock band from Oklahoma, The Flaming Lips, will be performing with Gruff Rhys at S4C's pavilion in the National Eisteddfod.
On Thursday, 7 August, at the S4C pavilion at 4.30pm, Gruff Rhys will be presenting his latest multi-platform project, American Interior. The ambitious project includes a Welsh language film called I Grombil Cyfandir Pell – American Interior, which will be shown first on S4C in September.
During the American Interior presentation Gruff Rhys will be performing songs from his latest album which is also part of the project, and world-famous drummer Kliph Scurlock will be joining Gruff during the set.
Gruff and Kliph have been friends for many years and have performed together numerous times. The Kansas-born drummer is very fond of Wales and admires a lot of Welsh acts, and this will be his first time at the National Eisteddfod, and he's very much looking forward to it.
"I am beyond thrilled to get to play at the Eisteddfod, but more than that, I just can't wait to experience it," says Kliph. "My father's side of the family comes from Cymru originally and it must be in my blood because I love the language, the people and the traditions. And there's something about music that comes from Cymru that resonates with my soul more than music from any other land. I have spent the last 3 days roaming free around Caerdydd and I never want to leave. Cymru am byth!"
Make sure you catch Kliph performing with Gruff Rhys live at 4.30pm on Thursday, 7 August at the S4C pavilion in the National Eisteddfod.
