S4C has received three nominations in the CDN awards, which celebrate excellence around the diversity agenda in British television production.
Llion Iwan, S4C's Content Commissioner, has been nominated for a Special Recognition for Commissioning award, whilst the powerful documentary Fy Chwaer a Fi has been nominated for best onscreen representation of disability. S4C has already announced that Fy Chwaer a Fi has been nominated in CDN Groundbreaking Programme category, which has been voted for by the readers of Broadcast.
Catrin Hughes Roberts, Head of Partnerships said; "We are extremely happy that Fy Chwaer a Fi and Llion, for his work as a Commissioner, have been nominated for CDN awards."
"The nominations give recognition to S4C's aim of providing a service that represents, and appeals to everyone. It’s a tribute to the sensitive work of the independent production companies in Wales, which provide a platform for stories that deserve to be told. The nominations are also recognition of the willingness of families to open their doors to the cameras, and to share their lives, and we are grateful to them for doing so."
The winners will be announced in a ceremony in London, 11 November.
Fy Chwaer a Fi was produced by Bulb Films, which is part of Boom Pictures on behalf of S4C. This powerful and moving film authored by 18-year-old twins Kirstie and Catherine Fields from Llanelli, the only people in the world with Fields Condition, which has been named after them.
Gradually, this devastating illness has confined them to their wheelchairs and rendered speech impossible. Communicating through speech aids for the first time, their programme tells their remarkable story of their bravery and humour.
