As we look forward to the new one-off special episode of Y Gwyll/Hinterland on S4C on New Year's Day the channel is giving viewers another chance to watch the first series again in full with English subtitles.
Every Sunday night at 10.00, starting from Sunday 9 November, you can catch up with all the action and whet your appetite before Mathias and his team return to S4C on 1 January 2015.
The detective drama series Y Gwyll/Hinterland, produced by Cardiff-based Fiction Factory, follows DCI Tom Mathias (Richard Harrington), DI Mared Rhys (Mali Harries), DC Lloyd Elis (Alex Harries), DS Siân Owens and their boss, Chief Superintendent Brian Prosser (Aneirin Hughes) as they investigate dark crimes in the seaside town of Aberystwyth.
The series proved popular following its original broadcast on S4C, and the subsequent broadcasts on BBC Cymru Wales and BBC Four. The series was filmed back to back in Welsh and English and a bilingual version was created as well.
The series which was shot on location in Ceredigion, west Wales, has been sold to Australia (BBC Global), Iceland (RUV), Holland (KRO), Belgium, France (DIZALE), Finland, Norway (NRK) and New Zealand. And as reported in the UK national press, the series is now available on VOD platform NETFLIX in the USA – as well as on its feeds in Canada and Scandinavia.
The eagerly awaited one-off special episode of Y Gwyll/Hinterland will be broadcast on S4C at 9.00pm on Thursday 1 January 2015. But before that viewers can watch the first series again in full on S4C from Sunday 9 November, with an hour-long episode each Sunday night at 10.00pm, until the series finale goes out on Sunday 28 December, ahead of the new episode.
The full second series is currently being filmed in Ceredigion and will be broadcast on S4C in 2015.
