A nomination for Lowri Morgan at National Adventure Awards

07 November 2014

 Popular S4C presenter, Lowri Morgan has received a nomination at the National Adventure Awards, for her work in promoting adventure in the media.

The winner will be announced in a ceremony at The Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow, 18 March 2015.

The National Adventure Awards celebrate the very best of adventure across England, Wales and Scotland.

Lowri is familiar to S4C viewers as a presenter on Ralio+. But she is also a busy adventurer, and has faced many challenging and gruelling adventures. In 2009 Lowri completed the Jungle Marathon in the Amazon in 7 days, out of the 150 top runners only 50 finished. The challenge was filmed by S4C for a special S4C programme, Ras yn Erbyn Amser (Race against time).

And in 2011 she faced another gruelling challenge in the Arctic, which saw her pushing her boundaries as she prepared for the 6633 ultra-marathon - one of the toughest challenges on the planet. In the freezing Arctic setting, competitors were pushed to their physical and mental limits as they strive to complete the 350-mile endurance in only eight days. S4C broadcast her challenge in the second instalment of Ras yn Erbyn Amser.

Because of all her love of adventure, and the way she promoted challenges, Lowri has received a nomination for her work, Lowri says;

"It’s an honour and a privilege to be on the shortlist alongside some of the biggest names in Adventure. I’m extremely grateful and appreciate it very much.

Just as with racing ultra-marathons, being nominated and shortlisted is a deeply humbling experience. It's humbling to be recognised for something I love doing – producing television programmes, pushing personal boundaries and finding new ones. But I wouldn't without the support, help, belief and perseverance of Ras yn Erbyn Amser production crew and the team at S4C."
