There will be an even wider choice of drama on S4C from the beginning of January in the new-look schedule launched today (Friday 2 January).
The 2015 schedule will include an exciting drama slot for Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm.
The drama Lan a Lawr will be the first series in the new slot which will premiere on Wednesday 7 January at 8.00pm.
With the popular series Gwaith/Cartref returning on Sunday evenings, Pobol y Cwm broadcasting four evenings a week and Rownd a Rownd two evenings a week, there will be an even wider choice of drama on the channel over the winter months.
And with a special one-off edition of Y Gwyll/Hinterland will be available on S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer throughout January, S4C is the place to be for drama of the highest quality.
Old family secrets draw communities in north and south Wales together in the new drama series Lan a Lawr.
The ever versatile Dewi 'Pws' Morris and Beth Robert are among the stellar cast in this poignant and captivating family drama written by Gareth F Williams and produced by Boom Cymru.
Popular soap Pobol y Cwm (a BBC Cymru Wales production) will continue on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8.00pm.
With Dani returning to the valley to face Garry after their wedding day heartbreak and Meic Pierce rapidly losing his battle with cancer, drama is guaranteed.
The dramatic start to the year continues with the popular series Gwaith/Cartref (Sunday, 11 January, 9.00pm, a Fiction Factory production).
With the staff and pupils at Ysgol Bro Taf having to move to temporary school buildings, old tensions arise and new relationships blossom.
In launching the schedule, S4C Director of Content Dafydd Rhys says, "S4C's drama content delivers new audiences to the channel and provides excitement and freshness in the schedule, and is always a lively topic of discussion. We have an incredible pool of talent here in Wales, both in front and behind the cameras and we want to provide the best possible platform for these talents in our 2015 schedule.
"As well as Lan a Lawr and Gwaith/Cartref, our soaps Pobol y Cwm and Rownd a Rownd remain the bedrock of our schedule this winter with plenty of captivating stories."
In addition to the drama provision early in 2015, S4C documentaries will follow some of Wales' most experienced reporters all over the globe in pursuit of stories that will throw fresh light on Welsh history.
Two of those reporters, Jon Gower and John Hardy are on the trail of life stories that reveal the bond between Wales and South Korea.
S4C, South Korea broadcaster, JTV, production companies Awen Media and Rondo Media, and The Bridge, an independent company who facilitate the international co-production, have come together to produce these appointment to watch documentaries.
S4C will also be at the heart of Welsh sport, broadcasting a number of exclusive games from the Under 20 Six Nations, as well as live coverage of Wales’ Six Nations matches and a host of other sporting events.
Viewers will enjoy live and exclusive coverage of three of the Wales Under 20 Six Nations matches including Wales v England at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay on Saturday 7 February.
The sport provision will also include live football and highlights from the Corbett Sport Welsh Premier League and La Liga in Clwb on Sunday afternoons and on Sgorio on Mondays.
In the entertainment genre, acclaimed chef Dudley Newbery will find out which Welsh stars can cut the mustard in the annual cookery competition Pryd o Sêr (a Rondo Media production) which this time is held on Anglesey.
They perform a number of tasks to test their cooking skills and patience to the limit. Set the table for Sunday night, 11 January at 8.00pm.
What better way to shorten the winter than in the company of the colourful characters in Caryl Parry-Jones’ series, Caryl a’r Lleill (Boom Cymru)?
It’s an opportunity to catch up with conductor Sioned Grug, the rudely rich Veloria and unruly school girl Ffion Carlton-Lewis among others in a series which starts on Wednesday 21 January at 8.30pm.
