Following the success of the series thriller 35 Diwrnod (35 days) that was broadcast on S4C during spring last year, S4C have comfirmed the second series of 35 Diwrnod.
The new series will start later this year, and like last year the second series will be surrounded by mystery after a body is found.
The award-winning authors return to script the second series; Siwan Jones and William Owen Roberts are two of the leading writers in Wales. Siwan has won the Rose d'or, and William has sold novels in several languages, and has received international acclaim. The production company Apollo (a part of Boom Pictures Cymru) will be producing the drama. This time the drama will be set in an insurance office, which is full of backstabbing and lies and we'll follow the lives of a new set of characters.
The series won the arts award in BATFA Cymru last year, as well as receiving several nominations including the best actor for Matthew Gravelle, and for the best writers. The new series, like the last one will be set over eight episodes.
Gwawr Martha Lloyd, S4C's Drama Commissioner said;
"The success of the format was obvious, with two of the best writers in Wales keeping the viewers in suspense with captivating characters and stories. This time the series will introduce new characters, looking at their past, their secrets and mysteries, with high profile actors like the last series."
In the last series there was a sea of prominent actors playing various roles, including Lois Jones as Jan, the leading role, and actor Matthew Gravelle who portrayed the cross-dresser Patricia, currently seen returning to his role as Joe Miller in the popular ITV series, Broadchurch. The series, 35 Diwrnod will start filming in June.
The clock is ticking closer to the start of the series, and once again there will be a body, secrets, and a suburb of suspicions. More information about the new series to follow.
