The bizarre humour of the hit comedy sketch show Dim Byd has won over the critics at the Celtic Media Festival 2015 by winning the award in the Entertainment category.

Dim Byd – which literally means ‘Nothing’ in English - beat off a strong shortlist of three other shortlisted entries to triumph at the festival held in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland last week.

The comedy sketch show series has been a fixture in the S4C comedy provision since it hit the small screen in 2011.

Produced by Caernarfon-based production company Cwmni Da, it has presented characters such as 'Y Tad Maximillian', 'Lle Goblin' and 'Reservoir Gogs' to popular Welsh culture. By using the simple device of following a fictional and out-of-vision channel surfer, we see a colourful range of strange programmes.

It has previously won a BAFTA Cymru awards - in 2014 for the Best Music and Entertainment programme and Best Children's programme in 2012.

S4C Content Commissioner, Entertainment Elin Rhys said, “We would like to congratulate the producers of the Dim Byd series, Cwmni Da for this success at the festival.

“The originality of the format and the mixture of different brands of humour, from the surreal to the slapstick, have made Dim Byd a huge success."
