Games, apps, exclusive videos and of course entertaining programmes of all kinds - and all available in the ways that children and young people like to access them. This is the new-look S4C service for children and young people, Stwnsh.
Whether by smart phone, tablet, computer or TV, Stwnsh will provide a window to a whole new world of entertainment around the clock.
The new-look Stwnsh service for children and young people between 7 and 13 years old will appear online and on-screen from Monday 13 April.
With more online and digital services than ever before, Stwnsh will have an even more dynamic feel. Go to s4c.cymru/stwnsh to get a glimpse of the exciting content.
Children’s Content Commissioner for S4C, Sioned Wyn Roberts says, "Stwnsh will be offering an exciting digital service on a much bigger scale and its brand new image will reflect this. We have listened to the children and young people of Wales and we need to move with the times. More and more children and young people are using provision such as smart phones and tablets and the programmes will naturally pull them into the digital world of Stwnsh with its exclusive apps, games and programmes."
Stwnsh broadcasting times will be 5.00-6.00 Monday to Friday. The Saturday morning programme will also continue using graphics links with a contemporary feel replacing live links from the studio.
There will also be exclusive content available on the Stwnsh on-line and digital service including TAG content online after 6.00 every Tuesday evening, games such as Madron, Brwydr y Bwystfil and Minecraft and contemporary music clips.
As part of the brand new provision there will be popular programmes such as TAG, Fi yw’r Bos, as well as brand new series such as Llond Ceg, with presenters Aled Haydn Jones and Geraint Hardy and singer Kizzy Crawford presenting the show.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in an exciting Stwnsh competition to win prizes including a family trip to Gwersyll yr Urdd Llangrannog, tickets to a rugby game or an iPad.
There will also be exciting changes to the Cyw service for younger children and on 13 April, S4C will welcome a new presenter. Catrin Herbert, 22, from Cardiff, is already a well-known singer. Catrin said, "I am really looking forward to starting this role. Cyw is a very successful service and it’s a privilege to be able to join the crew."
Cyw broadcasting times will be 7.00-1.00 and 4.00-5.00 Monday to Friday. Other new presenters will be joining Cyw, but for the time being Catrin, along with current presenters Einir, Gareth and Rachel, will lead children to the magical world of Cyw.
The Stwnsh and Cyw services are produced by Boom Plant, part of production company Boom Cymru.
Angharad Garlick from Boom Plant says: "Catrin will be a great addition to Cyw. More new faces will be joining the team over the next few months, so be prepared for more exciting news.”
Cyw was launched back in 2008 and Stwnsh in 2010 and these services have proved very popular with children and young people. Stwnsh is a service for children aged between 7 and 13 years old and Cyw is aimed at children up to 6 years old.
