Tour de Cymru for S4C cyclists in aid of children's hospices
16 April 2015
A crew of S4C employees will cycle from Caernarfon to Cardiff this weekend in aid of the Tŷ Gobaith and Tŷ Hafan children's hospices.
Starting out at Saturday 18 April, from the S4C office in Caernarfon's Victoria Doc, the group of 23 cyclists will peddle a total of 190 miles over three days to cross the finish line at the channel's headquarters in Llanishen, Cardiff on Monday 20 April.
The crew have been organising and training for the adventure for several months, and now the start date is drawing near, they are hoping for good weather and good luck.
Chris Morris, an officer in S4C's Insight Department, is one of the charity ride's organisers.
"There are many of us in S4C who enjoy cycling. We were a small group to start with, but as we talked to colleagues about our plans the numbers soon grew to over 20," says Chris, who is from Cardiff.
"We are looking forward to the challenge, and are grateful to everyone who has donated to the fund so far. Tŷ Gobaith and Tŷ Hafan do fantastic work supporting families and bringing happiness to children during the toughest times. We're glad to be able to do contribute a little bit towards helping their work at both centres in the north and the south."
Starting in Caernarfon early on Saturday, the first day will see the cyclist take in 64 miles to their first overnight stop in Corris, near Machynlleth. On Sunday they will cycle 67 miles to the second stop near Brecon. And finally, on Monday, they face the final 59 miles to the finish line in Cardiff.
