A special screening of the popular detective drama Y Gwyll/Hinterland is one of the first public events to be held by BAFTA Cymru as part of a new partnership with S4C.

The first episode of the new, long-awaited, series Y Gwyll/Hinterland will be shown for the first time to a limited audience in Chapter arts centre, Cardiff, on Wednesday 9 September. This is the first opportunity to catch the first two episodes, before the series' first ever TV broadcast on S4C, which starts on Sunday night, 13 September 9.00 (English subtitles).

The evening will include a question and answer session with the British Academy Cymru Awards nominated actors Mali Harries and Richard Harrington, one of the series producers Ed Thomas and director Gareth Bryn. The evening is one of the many joint events which will be held across Wales by S4C and BAFTA Cymru as the two organisations commit to offer more opportunities for viewers to participate in their activities. The two have already worked together earlier this year to hold a special preview screening of the S4C drama Tir.

And in October, there will be an opportunity to see another new S4C drama Dim Ond y Gwir in Caernarfon, which will also offer a chance for BAFTA Cymru members and the public to hear from the cast and crew about the series. The Rondo Media production is currently being filmed in the town and is a drama series set in a Law Court.

The screenings are part of BAFTA Cymru's plans to hold more events across Wales and offer more Welsh language content for their members.

One of the most exciting elements of this new partnership is that we can include more viewers in our events and offer the chance to see our programmes first, before they are broadcast on S4C, as well as seeking opportunities to nurture skills and talents in the production sector."

Hannah Raybould, Director of BAFTA Cymru says, "We're very proud to work with S4C to celebrate TV and film talents in Wales in events such as these. 34% of our events already take place outside Cardiff, with a high percentage of these in the Welsh language. We also want to make the most of the opportunities to inspire individuals who want to work in the industry to learn more about the different roles and productions available."
