S4C nominated for BAFTA Children’s Awards

23 October 2015

S4C's pre-school service, Cyw, and S4C's series aimed at young people, Llond Ceg, have received nominations in Children's BAFTA Awards 2015.

The British Academy Children's Awards ceremony, which recognises the very best in children’s media, will be held in London on Sunday 22 November.

Cyw has been nominated for an award for the best children's channel of the year, for the fourth year in a row, and Llond Ceg for the learning secondary age group.

Cyw is S4C’s children’s service which is broadcast daily. Boom Pictures Cymru is responsible for producing the Cyw on-screen links and many of the service's programmes. But numerous independent companies contribute to the content, with co-productions and acquisitions also in the mix.

Llond Ceg is a series for children and young people discussing matters, experiences and problems that they may face in an open, balanced and sensitive way.

Many pupils from various schools across Wales have taken part in the series, discussing subjects such as bullying, family, sex, image, homework and divorce.

GreenBay Media is responsible for producing the series with series producers Llinos Griffin-Williams, Meinir Siencyn and Aled Haydn Jones.

S4C's Children's Content Commissioner Sioned Wyn Roberts said;

"We are very pleased to hear the good news about the nominations in the Children’s BAFTA Awards, our Cyw service receiving a nomination for the fourth year in a row. Cyw is an incredibly important service to our young audience and congratulations to the production companies on their creativity in creating original content.

"It’s a pleasure to hear that Llond Ceg, a series tackling very difficult subjects and giving a voice to young people, has also been nominated. Congratulations to the production company for breaking new ground with this series."
