S4C viewers in London are to be given a chance to voice opinion on the Welsh language TV channel in an event at the London Welsh Centre.
The S4C Viewers' Evening will be held at the London Welsh Centre on Tuesday night, 1 December 7.00pm, when attendees can put their questions and opinions to the channel's Chief Executive, Ian Jones and S4C Authority Chairman, Huw Jones.
All are welcome to attend, with a loop system and translation equipment provided. The evening is an opportunity to voice opinions, ask questions and share ideas on what you would like to see on the Welsh language TV channel.
S4C Authority Chairman, Huw Jones, says; "We know that there is strong support for S4C among the Welsh living in London. With more viewers across the UK tuning in to S4C content, on TV platforms and online, it will be interesting to hear what programmes viewers in London enjoy watching, and what they think about the overall services S4C provide.
"S4C is facing a challenging period. In the UK Government's General Spending Review is was announced that direct funding for S4C is to be cut further over the next four years. This decision puts even greater emphasis on the result of the discussions we are holding with the BBC Trust with regard to the funding which S4C receives through the licence fee.
"It's important that we include viewers' opinions in these discussions as we put forward our case to ensure that S4C receives sufficient funding in order to maintain a complete and high quality service for the future."
In the UK Government's General Spending Review on Wednesday 25 November, S4C were told that the direct funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will be reduced over the four years from 2016/17 to 2019/20. Incremental cuts will be implemented during the period bringing the annual contribution down from the present £6.7m to £5m by 2019/20.
