 A song performed by tenor Wynne Evans and a choir of workers from companies across Wales, is being released as S4C’s charity single this week.

‘Cân Heb ei Chanu’, which has been composed by Robat Arwyn, with lyrics written by Hywel Gwynfryn, will be released today (Monday, 14 December) to raise money for cancer charity Tenovus Cancer Care.

The song will be available to buy from the iTunes store for 79p, and from Amazon and Google Play for 99p.

The choir performing alongside Wynne is made up of workers from three of Wales' largest companies, which was created especially as part of the upcoming S4C series, Wynne ar Waith.

Wynne, who hails from Carmarthen, said: "It's been a personal challenge to bring this group of workers together, who have never sang a note in a choir before.

“This is one of the most challenging things I have ever done, but I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with workers from across Wales."

In the series, which starts on Wednesday, 13 January, Wynne leaves his day job in an attempt to form a brand new choir from employees of three companies - Arriva Trains Wales, Edwards Coaches and Dŵr Cymru.

S4C Entertainment Content Commisioner Elen Rhys said: “It’s brilliant to have a song composed especially by Hywel Gwynfryn and Robat Arwyn, who know how to write a touching song.

“They have certainly done it yet again with this song, which is performed so well by a choir of workers and Wynne Evans."

He joins the staff on their shifts and holds several rehearsals across the nation as he bids to uncover new musical talent

Elen Rhys added: “It’s nice to get to know the characters from the workplaces during the course of this series, and to see them come alive on the screen as they’re taken on this exciting journey by Wynne.”
