Nine nominations for S4C content is the Celtic Media Festival

S4C has been nominated for nine awards in the 2016 Celtic Media Festival.

The festival is held this year in the town of Dungarvan, in County Waterford, Republic of Ireland, on 20 to 22 April, and the channel's content is shortlisted for nine of the festival's TORC awards.

Producers of the drama Y Streic a Fi (Boom Cymru) will be hoping for an award in the Single Drama category. Poet Gwyneth Lewis' first TV drama, Y Streic a Fi tells the story of the 1984-85 Miners' Strike and has already won a BAFTA Cymru award.

It will be competing against the film Yr Ymadawiad (The Passing, a Severn Screen production in conjunction with Boom Pictures and Ffilm Cymru Wales for S4C)S4C). This dark mysterious tale, having already enjoyed critical acclaim, goes on a cinematic tour tHis year ahead of its TV broadcast on S4C.

The fascinating tale of Llanelli rugby team's visit behind the Iron Curtain in Y Gêm Gudd: Llanelli v USSR (Tinopolis) is hoping for a win in the Sports category. The series #Fi (Boom Cymru), which documents the lives of children in Wales, has been nominated for a Children's award. The series has already enjoyed success, winning a BAFTA Cymru award last year.

Current affairs series Y Byd ar Bedwar (ITV Wales) is nominated for its mental health investigation in the episode Y Byd ar Bedwar: Y Felan a Fi. This programme also won a BAFTA Cymru award in 2015.

Both series' of Y Gwyll/Hinterland have already won acclaim and the second series is up for another award in the Drama Series category. The series was produced by Fiction Factory and financed by broadcast partners S4C and BBC Cymru Wales, together with all3media International, Tinopolis and Welsh Business Finance.

The festive show Nadolig Bryn Terfel (Boom Cymru/Harlequin Media) was filmed at St Fagans' Natural History Museum and has won its place among the nominations in the Entertainment category.

The ground-breaking history and science series DNA Cymru (Green Bay Media) is nominated as a Factual Series whilst the adventures of the two climbers, from two generations, Patagonia Eric Jones ac Ioan Doyle will represent the channel in the Factual Single category.
