S4C is the only UK terrestrial broadcaster with free to air coverage of the Lions’ tour and the channel will show extended highlights of the third and final test between the All Blacks and the Lions on Saturday evening, 8 July at 6:30pm.
English subtitles will be available on the programme which will be available to watch on Sky, Freesat, Virgin Media throughout the UK, as well as on Freeview in Wales, and on demand online at S4C.Cymru, BBC iPlayer and other platforms.
S4C Sports Commissioner, Sue Butler is proud of the response from the public to the channel's coverage.
“People have been appreciative of the coverage, whether they speak Welsh or not. English subtitles have introduced our presentation team to a new audience public all over the UK and they have responded positively to the quality of the analysis and the pundits' honest and forthright views," said Sue Butler.
"Just Like our Euro 2016 coverage last year, it's a great boost bounce for the Welsh language too, showing that we offer quality coverage in Welsh on S4C."
Produced by Sunset and Vine Cymru and Sports Media Services, the presentation team of the Llewod –Lions - coverage is led by presenter Catrin Heledd, supported by commentators Gareth Rhys Owen and Wyn Gruffydd and pundits, former internationals Dafydd Jones, Gwyn Jones, brothers Nicky and Jamie Robinson, Emyr Lewis, Robert Jones, Deiniol Jones and Andrew Coombs.
Former Lions Gerald Davies and Gareth Edwards starred in the promotional campaign, along with present captain Sam Warburton.
Said Sue, "We provide free to air coverage of sporting events, both national and international, sporting events that, that appeal to sports fans across Wales.”
It's a busy summer for the channel’s sports production teams. Along with the Lions coverage, S4C is following the Tour de France with live action and highlights, programmes, plus highlights of Velothon Cymru, Marathon Eryri around Snowdonia, and live football from the Europa League qualifiers among other sporting events.
But is Sue Butler willing to put her head on the block and predict who will win the battle at of Auckland?
"I’m optimistic and predict a Liam Williams drop goal in the final minute to win the series. It’s all possible."
