  S4C has announced Amanda Rees as the channel's new Director of Content.

Amanda Rees is Creative Director of TiFiNi – a production company she founded in 2012. She specialises producing special access films and international series for worldwide broadcasters including S4C, Channel 4, BBC, ITV Cymru, Channel 5, National Geographic, France Televisions, UKTV, A&E, RTE, Discovery and Foxtel Australia.

Amanda Rees will take up her role at S4C after the summer.

Ian Jones, S4C's Chief Executive, says her experience of working outside Wales with international companies is valuable for the channel;

Ian Jones; "Amanda Rees is a highly experienced producer, and we have seen much of her work on S4C over the years. Her work with companies outside the UK is valuable and her understanding of this work is very important as S4C aims to build on opportunities to work with partners outside Wales, in the UK and beyond. I look forward to welcoming her to the new role."

Amanda Rees is looking forward to taking on her new role at S4C later this year. She says; "I'm very proud to be able to join the team at S4C during an exciting time for the channel. I look forward to building on the success of recent years and taking advantage of the momentum to drive the channel forward in a creative, fresh and ambitious direction across all platforms."

Rees began her career with Opus working on the international co-production 'The Papacy'. Then, during her time with Green Bay Media, she produced a number of international co-productions such as 'Afonydd' (Rivers), 'Ynysoedd' (Islands), 'Yr Anialwch' (Deserts) and two programmes for National Geographic; 'Saving Egypt's Oldest Pyramid' and 'London's Olympic Stadium'.

She set up her own company - TiFiNi - in 2012, and her first work was a co-production for S4C, ITV Wales and Foxtel Australia, the 'Lost Treasure of the Royal Charter'. The next production, 'Finding Mum and Dad' for Channel 4, won much praise including nominations for a Grierson and a Broadcast award in 2014.

In 2016 she produced the programme 'Revenge Porn' for Channel 4 and her latest series, 'City Road', about life on one of Cardiff's main streets, will broadcast on BBC1 Wales over the summer.

The role of S4C Director of Content was advertised in March 2016 after the current Director Content and Broadcasting, Dafydd Rhys, declared his decision to step down after a period of five years at S4C.
